Koregaon Park: Around 80 foreign students from 27 countries visited the Poona School and Home for Blind at Koregaon Park on Wednesday.
The visit was organised by Symbiosis International Cultural and Educational Centre as part of the International Students Day Celebrations.
Amruta Ruikar, international promotions and international students relation executive, told Sakal Times that Symbiosis International Cultural and Educational Centre had organised this visit for foreign students studying in different institutions in the Pune district.
“We plan visits to different NGOs every year for International Students Day Celebrations. This year, we decided to visit the Poona School and Home for Blind and understand the way the school functions,” added Ruikar.
Krishna Shewale, administrative officer at Poona School and Home for Blind, explained to the students the functioning of the school.
Officials explained to the students the use of Braille in teaching the children.
Kinley Choki from Bhutan, studying at Symbiosis Law College, said, “I have been studying in Pune for the past two years and this is my first visit to an NGO. It is really good to see the efforts that teachers are making for the students.”
Another student, Hanns Sprungfeld from Germany, said the visit was interesting and he got to know many new things. He shared his experience of visiting similar schools in Germany.
