For over eighty years, Poona Blind School has been at the forefront of upgrading the lives of visually impaired students through holistic education. Be it educating students or training teachers, the school has always been at the forefront of empowering others. Our story dates back to 1934, when Late Dr. S.R. Machave, a practising eye specialist was struck with a noble thought of working to uplift the lives of visually impaired students. He could see the hardships they went through in their daily routine. He and his dedicated team of visionaries got on a mission and since have transformed thousands of lives. Poona Blind School has been a pioneer institution ever since. Forty years after inception, the number of students enquiring for admissions had grown manifold. Hence, a separate school for visually impaired girls started functioning. A vocational training centre was established to make them self-dependent. With two well-equipped campuses, a top-notch curriculum and a holistic development programme, both the boy and girl students now feel secure and are confident to compete with the mainstream. Everyone is welcome here irrespective of their backgrounds. We are committed to bringing about a positive transformation in the lives of visually impaired students through quality education.
